The relocation of the Power Switch Division of Siemens Energy & Automation from Portland, Oregon to Jackson, Mississippi gave three former Siemens employees the impetus to begin a new switch corporation. The switch company, headed by Art Crino, P.E., was founded upon their stringent criteria; build a superior product and support it with superior customer service. Pacific Air Switch Corporation, PASCOR, was thus founded in the fall of 1988.
Armed with product knowledge, determination, and funded by support from personal assets, friends, family, and component suppliers, PASCOR commenced developing the product line and framing the business. The ground was fertile for the new company. Many employees from the Siemens Switch Division soon joined the founding three, bringing with them their own expertise and experience.
Our manufacturing facility is located on 5 acres in Forest Grove, Oregon, flanked by the coast range on the west and the Cascade Mountains on the east. We began as a supplier of group operator air break disconnects, PASCOR’s product line has evolved to include motor operators, ground switches, surge suppression resistors, unitized phase-over-phase designs, to mention a few.
With facilities for ice testing and high current / high voltage testing nearby our plant, and a temperature rise test lab on our premises, we have ease of access for new product testing. Customer feedback and field experience continue to drive product development and company policies. All departments of the company are represented in design reviews. Design priorities are longevity, ease of adjustment, manufacturability, and commonality of parts across ratings.
The company philosophy of providing the highest quality product possible with unparalleled customer service has met with success confirmed by PASCOR’s rapid ascent in the industry.
